Found a poem I wrote two or three years back…
Not exactly sure when, should date my poems, anyways I’m rather proud of my youthful self, I think this might have been the inspiration for Raven & The Dove:
Our thoughts dance inside the silence
Each movement forming perfect meaning
But the warnings must be heeded-
For I can’t just do what you did
(Although not for lack of wanting)…
And, if we were to entwine
Would our worlds collide?
Leaving pain to reside.
Too afraid to divide
(Just like the last time)…
Or…
Could we make it right?
Please don’t offer your hypothesis’
For they offer no solution.
And all these failed experiments
Just take up all my time
So do I take it all under my wing
Still expected to fly?
Then pray, tell, just how high am I allowed
To go before you make me dive?
You’ll clip my wings, leave me to pine
Whilst all those vines clamber and climb
And creep
Around me, and inside me
Over-growing
Suffocating
Still, I’m clamouring for decoration
To hide behind classification
Protecting me from declarations
That rot me to the core
Yet, you worm right through all my defenses
Blindly following one heart
Whilst the other pulls away
And, as the nights turn into days
You never say goodbyes
Leaving me believing all of your tangled-up lies.
Anyways, guess it’s back to packing for the big move to Stoke (yay…). Would love to know what you think of this though?
